Case study: Giocattoliamo
A brand of educational wooden toys built from scratch on the four levers of the marketing mix: product, price, place and promotion.
The brand and the target
Giocattoliamo makes educational wooden toys for children aged 0 to 6, inspired by the Montessori method. The typical customer is Elena, 34, a parent who cares about genuine sustainability and educational design. The promise: a safe, inclusive and timeless toy that will never end up as waste.
1 · Product
FSC-certified beech and ash blocks, rounded corners, weights calibrated for a child’s grip, non-toxic paints compliant with EN 71-3. The box turns into a puppet theatre. The range grows in phases, with a lean startup approach.
2 · Price
A skimming price of €49 for the starter set, with a production cost of €16. The circular lever guarantees €15 of credit on return. Refurbished versions cost €35, and age-group bundles €65 and €95.
3 · Place
Selected independent shops and children’s bookshops, a proprietary e-commerce site, marketplaces such as Amazon Launchpad and Etsy, temporary and pop-up stores, and logistics integrated with the buy-back programme.
4 · Promotion
A warm tone, friendly on social media and dreamlike in the brand storytelling. The creative idea is an antithesis: throwaway plastic versus wood that lasts. The mix combines digital advertising, SEO and content marketing, public relations and community. The visuals were made with Canva and with AI.
